The most distinguished award in the security guard industry will be presented at ASIS 2010 – Call for Nominations through August 31
Bay Shore, N.Y.—July 6, 2010— The W.H. Brownyard Meritorious Award, the most distinguished award in the security guard industry, will be presented in partnership with the ASIS Foundation on October 14 at the ASIS International 56th Annual Seminar and Exhibits (ASIS 2010), the venue where it was first presented in 1987.
The award is presented to an individual whose heroic or meritorious action in the face of adversity represents the best attributes of a security officer. It was created in 1987 by W.H. Brownyard, founder of the Brownyard Group www.brownyard.com), an insurance program administrator providing specialized insurance coverage for select industry groups. The award winner receives a commemorative plaque and an all-expenses-paid trip to the ASIS conference.
“When my father – Bill (William) Brownyard – proposed the idea for this award, it was because he saw that security guards didn’t receive the recognition they deserved,” says Brendan Brownyard, CEO of Brownyard Group. “There are many security guards who provide great protection, reduce losses and often thwart danger and tragedy by taking heroic action. We’re proud to recognize their service.”
The last Meritorious Award winner, Tim Foster of U.S. Security Associates, Inc. was recognized for his heroic deed at a client site in Pittsburgh, where an employee had been struck by a rail car and was bleeding profusely. He took control of the situation, administered emergency care on the spot and, in the process, saved the employee’s life.
Nominations for the Award are open through August 31, 2010.. Questions can be directed to Ruth Connelly at 631-666-5050 x104, rconnelly@brownyard.com
